LUBBOCK, TX - Lady Raider Basketball is adding a new face at the semester break with the signing of UConn transfer Lexi Gordon, Head Coach Marlene Stollings announced Sunday.
The 6-foot guard from Hurst, Texas, comes to Lubbock after spending her freshman season with the top-ranked UConn Huskies. Gordon will join the Lady Raiders at the spring semester.
“I am very proud to welcome home the highly-ranked Texas girls’ basketball phenom, Lexi Gordon. She brings exceptional ability to score and will thrive in our high-octane offensive system,” Stollings said. “Lexi’s tireless work ethic and high basketball IQ are characteristics that will help catapult our program into the national spotlight. Prior to UConn, Gordon was a four-year letterwinner for L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas. She averaged 24.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during her senior season and is the all-time scorer with more than 2,000 points. Coming out of high school, Gordon was a 5-star recruit and the 29th-ranked player in the country.
The newcomer was a candidate for the 2015 Under-16 United States national team and the 2016 Under-17 United States national team. Gordon’s parents both played basketball at TCU.
